5 Signs You Need This Acne Solution In Your Skincare Routine

27.10.2022 | Skincare

BENZOYL PEROXIDE is the gold standard FDA approved skincare ingredient in treating acne. Clinically proven and recommended by dermatologists globally, it works to treat and prevent acne by killing acne causing bacteria from the skin, as well as helping shed dead skin cells and excess sebum. Using Acne Solution with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser might be one for you to consider adding to your skincare routine if you can answer YES to any of the below statements.

1. You are experiencing stubborn active acne that shows up in the form of irritated spots, whiteheads and blackheads.

This specialized ingredient is for people with troublesome, persistent acne or irritated spots. Benzoyl Peroxide is an antiseptic which kills acne-causing bacteria on the surface of the skin. Our Acne Solution is clinically proven to kill up to 95% of acne causing bacteria in 15 seconds*. Independent in-vitro study to demonstrate anti-microbial activity against Cutibacterium acnes.

2. You’re not seeing improvement after four weeks using other acne recommended ingredients.

We recommend using ingredients for four weeks to begin seeing your best results. If after using other acne recommended ingredients, like Salicylic Acid Cleanser, Beta Hydroxy Acid Serum, etc., for four weeks and not seeing results you are looking for, it might be time to consider Benzoyl Peroxide. And here’s why: While both ingredients offer exfoliating effects, Benzoyl Peroxide kills the bacteria that is causing acne. Salicylic Acid, a BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid), works beneath the skin surface to absorb excess oil, minimize the appearance of blemishes, and unclogs pores.

3. You have tried Benzoyl Peroxide previously but found it to be drying.

This anti-bacterial ingredient can cause irritation or drying of the skin. Benzoyl Peroxide may leave your skin really dry with patches of redness and dryness; however, The Acne Solution 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser is formulated to mitigate this challenge with two powerhouse hydrating ingredients - Glycerin, which combats the drying effects and Hyaluronic Acid to lock in moisture. After patch testing this ingredient, to reduce the chance of irritation, gradually introduce Acne Solution with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser into your AM and PM routine. Apply the product sparingly to one or two small, affected areas during the first 3 days. If no discomfort occurs, start by using once a day, every 3 days and use a gentle cleanser (Salicylic Acid Cleanser?) on alternative days. Gradually increase to 2 times daily if needed or as directed by your doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

 4. You have considered using Benzoyl Peroxide cleansers, toners, leave on treatments, masks or creams.

To avoid side effects, we would recommend using one type of product at a time. If your skin is sensitive, we would recommend using a cleanser as your first option. While it is a rinse off treatment, it works quickly to kill acne causing bacteria while combating the drying effects and drawing water into the skin, locking in moisture. This cleanser is less likely to have any staining effects as a leave on – just be sure to rinse the skin thoroughly. We recommend using hydrating ingredients after Benzoyl Peroxide, including Hyaluronic Acid Serum and a good moisturizer (like Omega Water Cream) to reduce the risk of dryness and protect the skin barrier.

5. You have used strengths of Benzoyl Peroxide in concentrations less or greater in percentage than 5 percent.

Benzoyl Peroxide, or BPO as it is often called, can be found in milder concentrations of 2.5% and can also be found at the highest strength of 10% which can increase possibility of sensitivity, redness and drying. As the Acne Solution is effective at 5% it offers balance between effectiveness while minimizing side effects, like dryness or peeling.
